Frequently asked questions

How do I know if something is in stock?

For any product, if the website says BUY in the stock availability grids, then the product is available. There is no need to telephone to check as our staff have exactly the same stock information as the website. The stock information is updated every few minutes. The most efficient way to place your order is on our website.

How long does delivery take?

Our warehouse is really efficient, and for orders in before midday, they are usually sent out the same day (Monday to Friday). We use Royal Mail First Class, and this should take 1-2 working days. A Next Day option is available – see below.

Do you do Next Day Delivery?

If your order is urgent, we offer a Next Day delivery service (Monday to Friday) for an extra £6.00. Please select Express Service after adding all your items to your basket. For orders placed by 12.00pm midday, your parcel will go out the same day on a Royal Mail Next Day delivery service, Monday to Friday. For orders placed after 12.00pm, your order will go out the next working Day.

Saturday Next Day delivery is not officially available, but we have experienced that Royal Mail have delivered Next Day parcels on Saturday morning, although this cannot be guaranteed.

Express orders should be delivered by 1.00pm the following day by Royal Mail or Parcel force, and WILL need to be signed for.

Do orders have to be signed for?

Most orders will not have to be signed for, but if the package is large and you think you may be out, then it would be worth having the parcel delivered to an alternative/work address where it could be signed for. For high value orders, these will have to be signed for.

All Express / (Next Day) orders will have to be signed for.

Do you have a catalogue?

No – we do not produce a paper catalogue. Our website is our catalogue, and this enables us to keep our product range up-to date, and our stock information accurate.

My order has not arrived – what do I do?

If you have not received your order within 3-4 working days, please do let us know straight away by email to enquiries@justkidswear.co.uk  quoting your Order reference number, name, telephone number and postcode.

For some bulkier parcels, the Postman may have tried to deliver and should have left a card, so it is worth checking at your local Royal Mail sorting office first.

If you paid for the Express / Next Day service, you will have a Royal mail consignment number on your Order Despatch email – you can track your parcel at www.royalmail.com. If you did not receive an email, please contact us on 0845 899 0245.

If you know you may be out, we suggest you have your order delivered to e.g. a work address.

Part of my order has been delivered – where is the rest?

Some of your items are sent to you directly from the manufacturer so if you only received part of your order please be assured the rest of it is on the way separately.

What happens if I don't like the items or they do not fit?

You may return items within one month of receipt for a refund or exchange. They must be in their original packaging, with all tags and in perfect condition.

Exchange orders can take up to 10 days to process as this is a very manual process. If you need replacement items urgently we strongly recommend you place a new order for the items, and return the unwanted items later for a refund.

You need to complete the returns form, using the Product Codes on your Invoice, (both enclosed with your order) and send the items back to us through your post office. Please use Recorded or Special Delivery services to ensure the parcels reach us.

Do I have to pay for the return postage if I am sending items back?

Yes – You are responsible for the cost of getting items back to us safely. If you wish to exchange an item, you will not be charged any further postage when we send out your replacement.

Can I have free postage on my order?

We offer free postage currently for orders over £45. We are unable to offer it on smaller orders without increasing the price of our products, which we don’t want to do!

When is my credit card charged?

Your credit or debit card is pre-authorised when you place your order. Your card is not charged until your goods are shipped.

Can I add to my order?

Unfortunately, once you have received your order confirmation from our website, you are unable to add to your order. This is because everything is highly automated and Confirmed Orders move through our system extremely fast, ending up in the warehouse for packing within minutes.

Sun Protection Information

How can I best protect my child from sun damage?

SunSmart is the UK's national skin cancer prevention campaign. They give the following guidance for sun protection:

  • Keep out of the sun between 11 and 3
  • Make sure you never burn
  • Aim to cover up with a t-shirt, hat and sunglasses
  • Remember to take extra care with children
  • Then use factor 15+ sunscreen

Sunburn can double your risk of skin cancer. So it's important to avoid burning by protecting yourself from the sun. For more advice and information on the SunSmart campaign, see: www.cancerresearchuk.org.

I am pale skinned. Am I  more at risk of skin cancers than others?

Some people have a higher risk of developing skin cancer than others. Those with a higher risk tend to have one or more of the following:

  • fair skin that burns in strong sun
  • red or fair hair
  • lots of moles or freckles
  • a personal or family history of skin cancer

Such people need to take extra care when they're out and about in the summer sun.

How do I know which days have high UV?

The strength of UV in the atmosphere depends on where you are in the world, the time of year and of day, the weather, and altitude.
To help you know when you need to be careful, the World Health Organisation developed the UV Index as a way of describing the strength of the sun's rays. It is used in weather forecasts and reports. The higher the value, the greater the danger from the sun and the less time it takes to damage your skin. You can check the UV index forecast for different parts of the UK and Europe at the Met Office website: www.metoffice.gov.uk

If I'm always covered up, will I get enough Vitimin D?

We need vitamin D to build and maintain strong bones. Our bodies produce vitamin D when our skin is exposed to UV rays. The vitamin is also present in our diet in foods such as eggs, fatty fish, fish liver oils and some fortified cereals. Scientists estimate that a fair-skinned adult produces adequate vitamin D during short periods outdoors two to three times a week.
If you are fair skinned, it is important to use sun protection in summer to reduce your risk of skin cancer. Sensible sun protection shouldn't prevent you producing enough vitamin D.

Don't my kids look better with a dark sun tan?

No! Remember that a tan is the sign of skin damage and it is NEVER smart to burn.

Why is UV sun protection swimwear better than a T-shirt?

T-shirts are often very loosely knitted and have a low UPF, which is further reduced when wet. You can still burn through a T-shirt! All our brands of sun protection swimwear are rated at UPF50+ when wet.

Sun Health Information

Ultra Violet light from the sun is a form of radiation. Excessive exposure damages the DNA of skin cells and greatly increases the risks of skin cancer occurring later in life. Skin cancer is now the UK's most common form of cancer and doctors have suggested that most cases could have been prevented simply by reducing exposure.
A sun tan might look good but it is also a symptom of skin trying to protect itself from further damage. Since babies and younger children have thinner skins and less of the protective melanin pigment, they are at a higher risk of incurring skin damage from the sun and it is vitally important that they are not allowed to burn.
Whenever possible, but especially at the hottest times of the day (11am to 3pm), children should wear sun protective clothing including coverage around the neck and, ideally, a wide brimmed hat. A high factor broad-spectrum sun cream (Sun Protection Factor 15 as a minimum) should be used on any skin that is not protected by clothing. Sun creams should normally be applied 30 minutes before exposure and reapplied every few hours and after swimming, or as according to the manufacturer's guidelines. The U.K. Department of Health advocates caution in applying sun cream chemicals to a baby's sensitive skin.
Normal clothing offers some sun protection, but this varies according to the type and colour of the material. A fabric's composition, its weight and tightness of weave all help to determine its Ultraviolet Protection Factor ("UPF") rating, but unless the fabric has been tested, you cannot know what standard of protection is being provided. Wet clothing permits more UV light to reach your skin - for example, the level of protection offered by a normal T-shirt can be halved when wet.

Sun protective clothing with a tested UPF of 50+ (the maximum rating for fabrics) will block around 98% of the sun's ultraviolet radiation when new. As stretching opens the fabric's weave and reduces its UPF, it is important that the swimwear be appropriately sized and not tight.

Remember!

The sun can still burn even when the weather is cloudy, or cold, or windy. You don't have to feel hot!
UV light is reflected off water and sand and so simply shading from the direct sun may not be sufficient to prevent burning.
UV swimwear can only protect those parts of the body that are covered. Sun creams must also be applied to exposed areas.

Think "S.M.A.R.T."

  • Stay in the shade 11am-3pm
  • Make sure you never burn
  • Always cover up
  • Remember to take extra care with children
  • Then use factor 15+ sunscreen

"Never get sunburnt" - U.K. Department of Health recommendation.
